[After the announcement, Lenore can be found sitting at a counter in the kitchen. She doesn't have any food in front of her; just her cell phone, where she appears to be viewing the profiles of the deceased, lingering on that of Steven. She's also taken off her cape and pulled her veil over her head, appearing very much like she's in mourning. As she sits there, she just sighs.]
[Douman is just...standing here? Oddly? A bit tense, like they're ready to go off running someplace. They seem to resist the urge, though, walking over.]
Let me guess. You're missing your dear vampire hunter?
[They stare at her for a long long moment, before barking out a laugh.]
Are you saying that sincerely as someone who appreciated him as a person, or a predator lamenting the prey that got away? Or maybe the prey you got rid of?
Ahaha, of course, of course! I simply wanted to see his face as he teetered over the edge. He's a fine man, yes, and you can have the rest, but that moment...
[Lost, like a gem down a dark pit.]
I'll do my best to find out what may have happened, tomorrow. At least he deserves that.
It's just that we got to talking once about how we'd prefer to die if we had to choose. He seemed unprepared for the question, but when I gave my answer, to die while gazing up at a starry sky, he said he liked that idea, too.
[lenore is in the tea room! she’s brewed a pot of tea and has a plate with some tiny slices of fancy-looking cakes in front of her, which she picks at while reading a book she’s apparently borrowed from the library.]
[she glances up when douman speaks, and smiles.]
Not at all. I’ve just finished this chapter. Please, have a seat.
He was...an overly ambitious man. And an altogether stupid one. So if he decided to go against my advice and do a murder...well, then he'd be stupider than I thought.

I am. The poor thing... It was much too soon for him.
no subject
Shouldn't you be ever so relieved? A threat is gone, you know.
no subject
But I did like him. He was very sweet.
no subject
Are you saying that sincerely as someone who appreciated him as a person, or a predator lamenting the prey that got away? Or maybe the prey you got rid of?
no subject
Don't be absurd. Steven wasn't mere prey. He was affectionate. He would have given me anything I asked of him. And he still had so much to give...
no subject
[Their dark eyes glint.]
You saw him as your pet.
no subject
But now someone's taken him from me.

[They smile, and its an ugly smile, like that of a predator.]
Ah. I won't forgive that easily, either.
no subject
[we can't all be yandere for steven]
[or can we]
...But if we share the same goal, then I suppose I'm happy about that.

I'll do my best to find out what may have happened, tomorrow. At least he deserves that.

Thank you.
[said very sincerely. and then she goes back to looking wistful.]
I hope he got to see the stars. If things were different, and I were the one who had to kill him, I would have made it nice.
no subject
[But that last statement makes them tilt their head, thoughtful.]
The stars, you say? What sort of stars?
no subject
It's just that we got to talking once about how we'd prefer to die if we had to choose. He seemed unprepared for the question, but when I gave my answer, to die while gazing up at a starry sky, he said he liked that idea, too.

[DON'T SMILE ABOUT THIS]
W3 MONDAY
Hello, Lenore. Do you mind some company?

[she glances up when douman speaks, and smiles.]
Not at all. I’ve just finished this chapter. Please, have a seat.

[And moving to sit! They look over everything, admiring.]
What sort of tea are you having?
no subject
[without waiting for an answer, she pours a cup and sets it in front of them.]
no subject
[And a bow of their head.]
How are you doing after Steven's death?
no subject
[she picks up her fork and resumes picking at one of the cakes. she frowns as she considers her answer.]
But I would be a lot happier if I had a killer to punish.
no subject
Oh, I feel the same. What a pity. Fukuda made such a fuss, and it wasn't even him. Our murderers are far too skilled at giving us the go-around.
no subject
But then... if it turns out to be true that the person who killed Steven was already dead, then perhaps the whole trial was a farce to begin with.
no subject
Mmmm? Oh, you think someone like Vlad may have done the deed?

[she was maybe hoping for something a little juicier.]
I didn't think all that poorly of him at the time, but... he really wasn't very good at reading a room.
no subject
That was all! But ah, it was that and also his impressively big ego. The man just couldn't help but think he was the best one there.

Mmmm. Well! If I had to say...I want a lot. I want very much. And I guess I want what others have. So it fits, somehow.
